So, the opportunity to design a contemporary house on an exceptional site in the Green Belt overlooking the market town of Abingdon in Oxfordshire was the perfect fit for the RIBA award winning practice who created a stunningly modern 3 bedroom new build home.

THE PROJECT

Hailed as ‘exceptional’ and the ‘best scheme in 20 years’ by local planning departments the project maximises the 270 degree panoramic view, delivers on a high standard of environmental performance and integrates landscape and courtyard spaces transitioning between inside and outside spaces seamlessly.

Khoury Architects chose Rock Revelations to supply large format porcelain tiling to 3 floors across hallway and half landing. The expansive area is beautifully light and airy and this has been enhanced by forming the feature staircase in the same large format tiles as the flooring.

In order to satisfy the clients close attention to detail, Rock Revelations formed the stair treads and risers by mitring the porcelain tiles.  In addition to this Rock also mitred and formed the glass balustrade cladding to finish the overall design perfectly.

Rock Revelations have completed the fabrication and installation of a stunning new water bar for Selfridges. Situated in the heart of the luxury Accessories Hall, The Fount is a 14 seater concept bar serving artful cocktails, tisanes and water infusions.

THE PROJECT

Specified in Golden Spider a stunning Marble spinning a web of golden veins on a light cream background Solid slabs were milled to 40mm to create a 100mm edge detail.  The spectacular curved design required an exceptional level of detail with each section precision cut and vein matched to the customers specific mapped requirements.

Rock Revelations, leading UK fabricator of exquisite stone materials for both residential and commercial projects have collaborated with award winning Khoury Architects on a contemporary new build house in a leafy suburb of Leicestershire.

THE PROJECT

A number of deliverables were specified for the project including a high impact entrance lobby that would set the character of the house throughout from hall, stairs and landing as well as a number of bespoke and luxurious features for kitchen and bathrooms.

The interior design exhibits the client’s love of natural stone and the complexity of the scheme required specialist knowledge hence the appointment of Rock Revelations.

Internally the spectacular egg-shaped hallway represents the heart of the home from which all other rooms are accessible and views of the sky are afforded.  The oval shape is replicated from floor to ceiling with bespoke curved doors as well as cantilevered stairs rising around curved walls to a first-floor gallery.  At ground level, the impressive egg-shaped installation by Rock Revelations in Onyx shows a subtle kashmir-coloured composition when left natural but when backlit transforms to a glowing lava-like ember.  Featuring over 500 linear metres of LED lighting the Rock Revelations team developed a bespoke support system for the 4-way book matched Onyx working around space constraints and underfloor heating to achieve a seamlessly diffused light.

Off this hallway is a stunning cloakroom entirely clad in Spiderman Classico polished marble.  The client fell in love with the raw sheets when visiting Italian suppliers Antolini Luigi with Rock Revelations.  The room is unique in that it appears to be entirely fashioned out of the stone with walls and fittings seamlessly blending together.  On the opposing side, the ground floor en-suite houses a tiny angled sink in Polished Cosmic Granite, precision made by the Rock team to run perfectly along the concave wall of the bathroom.

To the rear of the hallway, the kitchen, dining and snug spaces open out on to landscaped gardens with stone flooring passing seamlessly from inside to out.  The Kitchen island surfaces in Silestone Yukon Quartz marry perfectly with a 30mm White Macubus Quartzite to create a drop-down seating area.

The staircase leads to the first-floor curved gallery from which the four en-suite bedrooms are accessed, all of which are completed with a mix of natural and engineered stone including a stunning example of Calcite Azul Marble.  The most glorious of these, the master suite facing the rear garden is fully equipped with its own lounge, dressing room and luxurious en-suite. Rock Revelations individually hand finished and laid the herringbone porcelain tiles in Afyon White Marble that lead into the beautifully crafted bathroom.  Featuring a seamlessly mitred double vanity in Invisible Grey Marble with undermount sinks and a luxurious steam room with integral heating to seating areas, this bathroom, along with all the stone across the entire project highlights the superb skill and talent of the Rock Revelations fabrication and installation team.
