What is Dekton?
Dekton is an ultra-compact surface crafted using a unique blend of porcelain, glass, and natural quartz minerals.Manufactured with extreme heat and pressure, Dekton is non-porous, highly durable, and resistant to heat, stains, scratches, and UV exposure. It is used for kitchen countertops, bathrooms, flooring, wall cladding, and even outdoor applications.
What is Dekton made of?
Dekton is composed of raw materials used in glass, porcelain, and quartz production. These are fused together using Particle Sintering Technology (PST), a process that replicates the natural formation of stone but within hours instead of thousands of years. The result is a high-performance surface that is non-porous and extremely durable.
How is Dekton made?
Dekton is created through Particle Sintering Technology (PST), where raw materials are blended, compressed under extreme pressure, and then baked at 1200C.This process removes the need for resins or bonding agents, making it one of the most compact and durable surfaces available.
How does Dekton compare to quartz
While both Dekton and quartz surfaces are engineered materials, they have key differences:Dekton is made without resins, using extreme heat and pressure, resulting in higher heat, scratch, and UV resistance.Quartz combines natural quartz with resins, making it durable but more susceptible to heat damage.Dekton is ideal for outdoor use, while quartz can discolor under prolonged UV exposure.
Is Dekton heat resistant?
Yes, Dekton withstands temperatures up to 400C and can tolerate contact with hot cookware like pans and coffee makers. However, for prolonged exposureespecially on thinner slabs (4mm or 8mm)its recommended to use trivets or heat mats. Avoid direct contact with metal parts of grills, hobs, fireplaces, or open flames.
Can a crack in Dekton be repaired?
Generally, cracks in Dekton cannot be permanently repaired. Even if a repair is attempted, the crack may continue to expand, making it a temporary fix at best. However if a crack does appear, please get in touch and our team of experienced stone masons will be able to advise the best course of action.
Is Dekton eco-friendly?
Yes, Dekton is produced sustainably, using natural raw materials without harmful chemicals. Its durability and long lifespan also contribute to reducing environmental impact.
Is Dekton durable?
Absolutely. Dekton offers long-lasting resistance to scratches, stains, heat, and impact, making it ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, and high-traffic areas.

Removing water stains
- Rinse the surface thoroughly with plenty of water and wipe it with a clean cloth.
- Dry using kitchen roll to avoid water spots.
- If stains persist, use a limescale remover, a blue scouring pad, and water. Clean in circular motions for 1–2 minutes, then rinse well and dry with kitchen roll.
Cleaning products
Avoid using hydrofluoric acid products, as they can cause damage to the surface.
You can however use most multipurpose cleaners that contain alcohol, which helps remove soap residue and simplifies cleaning.
Disinfectants can be used, but only diluted products are recommended, and undiluted ones should not remain on the surface for more than five minutes.
How can I remove adhesive residues?
- Use CleanColorsil, a silicone and resin cleaner designed to protect and maintain the surface’s appearance.
- Spray directly onto the affected area and rub with a cloth or sponge until the residue is removed.
- Other silicone and resin removers may be used if they do not compromise the integrity of Dekton.
Smears
For smudges or smears, apply a glass cooktop cleaner and wipe with plenty of water and a clean cloth. A squeegee can also make the process quicker and more efficient. Always handle cleaning products with care and adhere to usage guidelines provided by the manufacturer.
Rust & limescale

- Apply an anti-rust product, nitric or muriatic acid to the affected area or use soap and rinsing well with water.
- If limescale marks remain, use a diluted anti-limescale product for better results
- Gently rub in a circular motion with a damp microfibre cloth
Wax & ink
To remove wax, adhesives, or similar substances such as rubber marks, shoe polish, or ink, use solvents like acetone, rubbing alcohol, lacquer thinner, or mineral spirits.

Spills
For tough spills, apply dish soap and scrub with a Scotch-Brite pad, then rinse with warm water. For dried residues like food, gum, nail polish, or paint, gently scrape them off with a blade or putty knife before cleaning the area with soap and water. Any marks left by the blade can be quickly removed with soap, water, or glass cooktop cleaner.
Precautions
When using glass cooktop cleaner, ensure you thoroughly rinse the surface with plenty of water and fresh cloths. A squeegee can assist in achieving a spotless finish. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions when handling and storing cleaning products.
Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals or solvents, especially hydrofluoric acid. While Dekton is highly scratch-resistant, using a cutting board is recommended to prevent grey marks from "metal transfer." These marks are easily removed but can be avoided altogether by using a cutting board, which also helps protect your knives from dulling.
Routine care
Dekton worktops are simple to care for. To keep them looking their best over time, regularly clean using a non-abrasive sponge with soap and warm water. Alternatively, any pH-neutral all-purpose cleaner can be used for effective cleaning.
