Brand Focus – Marvellous Marazzi

As you’ll know from browsing our website, we offer a lot of materials and you might find it tricky to know where to begin. In this series, we will be diving a little deeper into the history of some of the key brands we work with and telling you a bit more about what makes them so special.

Let’s start with Marazzi. Founded in 1935 in Sassuolo, Italy, the company started out relatively modestly but is now part of Mohawk Industries Inc, one of the world’s biggest flooring manufacturers.

Innovation has always been the name of the game and in 1970, Marazzi developed a rapid-single firing to make production even more efficient. It operates a circular manufacturing practice recycling around 120% of its industrial waste and recovers all of its production waste including unfired and fired scrap. Minimal material goes to landfill and more than 60 of its collections utilise up to 40% recycled material. So if making an eco-conscious decision matters to you, Marazzi might be the right choice.

It also has three on site cogenerations plants that generate up to 75% of the factory’s energy which is no mean feat!

And the list of environmental accolades reads like the credits at the end of a blockbuster. We’re talking:

  • ISO 17889-1: Marazzi achieved this international standard, which assesses a product’s environmental, social, and economic impact in great depth.
  • LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design): Only products with recycled content and energy-efficient production receive this.
  • Greenguard Gold: to ensure better indoor air quality for end users, the products are certified for low chemical emissions (VOCs).
  • EU Ecolabel: this quality mark is given to organisations that reduce environmental impact throughout the lifecycle of its products.

Constantly developing new designs, the company has several product lines that are inspired by natural products including marble (Patagonia and Taj Mahal to name but two), Travertini and Verde Borgogna. Some of these can be backlit effectively so let us know if that’s something you’re interested in and we can advise.

There are also concrete-look large format tiles which offer  an industrial touch and metal effect tiles such as Corten really elevate any space they are used in. There’s a look for everyone.

Marazzi is a premium product that can be found in high-end hotels, homes and restaurants and is low-maintenance enough for busy households. We’ve worked with it extensively and would be happy to arrange some samples if you’re considering it for your next project, just get in touch.
